ROLLER SKATING RULES

All skaters must adhere to the rules for roller skating. 

  • Red rules are proposed as new from ice skating rules

  • No roller blades or speed skates.

  • All skaters must adhere to the rules for public skating. 

  • Skate at your own risk.​

  • Skates required to be on the rink: you must be wearing skates to be on the skating floor; no one is allowed on the rink floor in their socks or street shoes.

  • Alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, or anyone under the influence, will not be permitted on the premises and will be asked to leave.

  • While skating:

    • No fast skating​

    • No backwards skating or tricks during all skate 

    • No pushing or shoving

    • No playing tag or aggressive skating

    • No carrying children on skates at any time

    • Only one earbud/headphone in at all times

  • No inappropriate language will be tolerated. Those violating this policy will be asked to leave the Civic Center. Repeat offenses will face longer bans, up to and including permanent bans. 

  • Skate in a counter-clockwise direction.

  • Respect the space of other skaters.

  • Watch out for beginner skaters.  

  • ​Lifting any person on the rink floor is not allowed.

  • ​No food or drink on the rink.

  • No hockey sticks or pucks are allowed to be used in the facility.

  • Do not use your phone on the rink floor -  photos or videos are not allowed. 

  • If asked to stop doing something by a Civic Center staff member, please do so. It's probably a safety issue.  

  • The use of the assigned locker rooms will be permitted. However, the Civic Center does not supervise the use of these rooms. All participants and parents of minors using the locker rooms, agree to hold the Saranac Lake Civic Center harmless and relinquish all claims as a result of any activity or issues resulting while using the locker rooms.

  • The Civic Center staff reserves the right to amend or add to these rules at any time, without previous notice.    

  • Anyone disobeying the rules may be asked to leave

  • Skate at your own risk - 

  • Roller skating is a strenuous and fast-moving sport. By putting on skates and participating in this form of recreating you are assuming the risk of an accident inherent in this and any similar sport. 

  • It is the nature of this recreation that people fall down or run into one another on occasion. 

  • If you are not willing to assume that risk, do not skate here. 

  • If you doubt your ability to roller skate, please consider this notice before proceeding onto the floor. The Saranac Lake Civic Center is not responsible for any injuries which occur while in this facility.​

  • Anyone disobeying the rules may be asked to leave
